Creative Director at Silent Labs afforded an decent amount of autonomous time to create for the brand social media pages. We had experimented with a handful of smooth drawings with clean motion design like you'd get using curves to produce images and then animating the paths. These didn't fit the brand aesthetic as well as the hand drawn art content. Thankfully modern technology makes repeatedly drawing frames of a video that work in succession much more efficient than it used to be. I drew these on my tablet and then constructed the sequence of vector illustrations to make the animation. As I write this (mid-January 2023) you can animate video in all the essential top-level ways — except for path animation. Modern apps export in virtually any file type you need, and the cloud tech syncing with computer hard drives makes it possible to find a creative process more efficient than traditional laptop and design applications there. With Apple still limiting app developers to part of the allotted developer processing capabilities on the iPad Pro 12.9", it is exciting to think what kind of mobile design capabilities are just around the corner. Just this week I found a vector line animator. That app plus an Apple pencil makes for many possibilities. I also find it curious to consider just how many near-infinite creative processes a graphic motion design artist can use between all the apps available.
